Dictionary of air-conditioner terms
Split
:
As you know, it means two different parts of an air-conditioner, internal and external units.
Compressor
:
It pumps cooling liquid into the lines.
Evaporator
:
It works when an air-conditioner starts to coll. It turns cooling liquid into gas. This part is in internal unit.
Condenser
:
IT works during cooling function. It turns gas liquid into liquid. This part is in external part.
Inverter air-conditioners
:
These air-conditioners adjust the number of rounds of the compressor according to cooling or heating need in a room.
Drier
:
It is used to stop moisturizing. There is special gel in it which should be changed after a period of time.
Muffler
:
It absorbs the noise and vibrations occurred by the compressor.
Valves
:
It is used to measure gas pressure.
Accumulator
:
It blocks the liquid which affects the compressor.
Crankcase Heater
:
It blocks the accumulation of the liquid in crankcase when the compressor doesn’t work.
BTU
:
It is a heating term. It is the abbreviation of British Thermal Unit. It is the quantity of temperature which changes 1 Fahrenheit degree of a litre of water. Btu/h means the quantity of temperature that an air-conditioner absorbs in an hour.
Cop
:
It is the proportion of air-conditioner function and used energy.
